What is Summer Extreme Camps? http://www.extremecamps.com/

Are you a passionate follower of Jesus? Teen Mania's Summer Extreme Camps are designed to help teens genuinely discover God and live an extreme life for Him through:
  1. Dynamic praise and worship with today's hottest Christian bands
  2. Adrenaline-pumping activities
  3. Power-packed speakers

  4. An opportunity to build Godly relationships

Their goal is to provide a unique camp experience unlike any other as a catalyst to see the youth of this generation come together in the Name of Jesus to discover what being a Christian really is all about. They desire CAMP to be more than just another event! Their hope is that CAMP will be a stepping stone for change in the life of each student as well as in church youth groups.

We will be going to camp this summer-June 22-26. We leave from ORLC Monday morning at 8:30 AM...and return Friday afternoon around 3 PM

If you check out the Extreme Camp Website (see above) you will find the BLUE package includes everything and costs $299. We are asking our youth to pay $150 and the remaining balance will be covered by the ORLC Youth Budget. Why? Because this event is that important!

The price includes: transportation to and from camp, air conditioned cabins, all meals, extreme games and activities, sessions and concerts, access to the ropes course, paintball, lake and pool.

Registration opens in January and continues through April 5th. Can't afford the entire $150 right now? That's okay! Pay a $50 (non-refundable) deposit to Mike (Checks made out to ORLC Youth) and pay the balance over the next few months! All payments must be made by June 14th. If you miss paying the deposit by April 5th...you can still attend, but the cost jumps to $200! If you decide really late and want to go after May 3rd, the cost goes up to $250.So pay early and save money! See Mike NOW!

Well December flew by and here we are 2009!

Be sure to check out the ORLC Youth Page:
http://www.orlc.org/youth.htm
Here you can find the 2009 Youth Events as well as the most current Youth Newsletter.

February is the month we celebrate Valentines Day. What better time to reflect on what TRUE LOVE is...the kind we receive from our God and Creator!
Today’s students live in a sex-saturated world. In a media culture where it seems no topic is off limits, you can’t afford to NOT be talking about the big IT – honestly, unashamedly and often – with our youth.
It's Worth Waiting For...
On February 15th, ORLC will be presenting a special evening where we can come together and talk and learn about the kind of relationship God has planned for each one of us. What is Purity and why save the most precious intimate relationship with the one you marry?

Some of the topics we will cover:
Dating
Peer Pressure
Broken Relationships
The Rise of Same Sex Relationships
Internet Pornography
Sexually Transmitted Diseases
What's Secondary Virginity?
What Does the Bible Say?
Unequally Yoked...what's that?
What's A Purity Code
Separated Guy Talk Time
Separated Girl Talk Time
Separated Parent Talk Time

The Youth will have an opportunity to make a verbal, written and visual commitment at the conclusion of the evening. Youth and Parents are encouraged to purchase a special silver ring to signify purity until marriage.

Some choices for rings can be found at:
http://www.silverringthing.com/

http://www.familychristian.com/shop/product.asp?ProdID=6344
http://secure.jamesavery.com/view_jewelry/search/viewProduct.jsp?itemCode=R-1347

There are a variety of prices...
Mike will try to have a few there to look at and even purchase...but he will not have all sizes, styles, and prices...
Please call Mike in advance to see about having a ring there for your youth!

I pray each and every one of our youth and parents can make a commitment to join us on Feb. 15th. Look for your special invitation in the mail!

September News...School has arrived!

ANOTHER School Year...it's hard to believe!
Yikes...going to bed early again and getting UP early again!
and...football and volleyball season are here upon us...

Please do not get so busy you forget to keep God a part of your daily schedule...especially at the top of that schedule! When we do not make it a priority for God to be a part of our day...He tends to get the left-overs...if there are any. Take time to talk to God...and find out what plans He has for you before you begin your day!

Pastoral Call Process...
Sunday, Aug. 31st was our congregational voters meeting. GREAT NEWS...a unanimous vote was taken by the ORLC Members to call Pastor Eloy Gonzalez to be our next Senior Pastor of ORLC. For many of the ORLC Youth who participated on the San Antonio Mission Trip (Summer 2004)...they have already meet Pastor Eloy Gonzalez. On that mission trip, we visited Concordia Lutheran Church and Day Care. We presented our puppets, songs, dances, crafts and GOSPEL of Jesus Christ to the Day Care on our first day of our mission trip. Since then, Pastor Gonzalez has been to ORLC for Hispanic Mission Conferences as well as Pastor Bob Gonzalez's Funeral in 2007. He also helped with the 2008 Service of Blessing at ORLC on Spet. 24th.
PLEASE keep our Church and Pastor Gonzalez in your prayers as the Holy Spirit speaks to us and to him during this most important time of decision. May the Holy Spirit guide and direct Pastor G to be led here to shepherd the ORLC Family of believers!
